Day 1: Love in a World of Division
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love…” - Galatians 5:22
In a world where arguments flare up in comment sections and families are divided over politics or worldviews, love often feels like a forgotten language. We’ve become quick to label and slow to listen. Maybe you've felt it—even among Christians—where differing opinions create distance instead of dialogue. Social media rewards outrage more than empathy, and love begins to look like weakness. But the Spirit calls us to something higher.
In Galatians 5:22, Paul lists love first among the fruit of the Spirit—not by accident. Love is the foundation from which all other fruit flows. In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul reminds us that even the most impressive spiritual gifts are meaningless without love. This isn’t a shallow, feel-good emotion. It’s agape love—sacrificial, intentional, others-first love that reflects the very nature of God. Jesus embodied this when He washed the feet of the one who would betray Him, and when He prayed forgiveness over those who crucified Him.
Perhaps you’ve found it difficult to love someone who’s wronged you. Maybe you’ve felt tempted to withdraw from relationships rather than work through discomfort. Or maybe love feels risky, especially if it means vulnerability. But walking in the Spirit means letting His love flow through us—reaching beyond what’s natural or deserved. We’re not called to approve of everything, but we are called to love everyone. That’s the radical nature of Spirit-born love—it bridges what division breaks.
Reflection/Action:
Today, ask the Holy Spirit to show you where love needs to be restored in your life. Is there someone you’ve written off, avoided, or spoken harshly to? Take one small step—reach out, forgive, or pray blessing over them.
Prayer Focus:
Holy Spirit, grow Your love in me. Help me to love beyond feelings or convenience, and reflect the heart of Christ to those around me. Show me who needs Your love through me today. Amen.
